The Cake Table

 

Sometimes, because of all the arrangements and last minute preparations to be done, decorating the cake table is overlooked.  A beautiful cake has been ordered but decorating the cake table has been overlooked or forgotten.

 

The cake table should be decorated to compliment the beautifully decorated cake and to make a beautiful presentation for the cake.

 

I have included some photos of cake tables to give you some ideas you can use in decorating your own cake table.   

 

 

The cake table above is beautifully decorated and compliments the wedding cake.

A backdrop and skirted table has been used with lights behind the backdrop and also lights underneath the table skirt.  The use of a backdrop provides a nice background for pictures as well as a very nice presentation for the cake.

 

When choosing the location of the cake table in the reception hall, take care not to place the table in front of doors, a fire extinguisher, etc.  The table wants to be placed with a suitable background for the pictures.  A plain wall behind the cake table is preferable.  A backdrop can also be used to provide a picturesque background for the cake as in the above photo

 

 

The cake table above has satin material “poofed up” underneath the cake

covering the bases of the pillars.  The dark background behind the cake  helps the beautifully decorated white cake to “pop”.

 

 

 

 

The cake table above compliments the cake by having a contrasting color of satin material underneath thus making the cake “pop”.  A backdrop is also used behind the cake providing a nice background for pictures.

 

 

The cake table above is decorated keeping with a beach theme by using fishing net and seashells.  Again, a backdrop with lights behind is used which provides a picturesque background for the cake pictures.

 

 

Above, greenery and baby’s breath is arranged around the base of the cake which is placed on a skirted table which a white backdrop.

 

 

The above cake table is quite elaborate.  The dark satin covered table makes the wedding cake “pop”against the ornate backdrop accented with columns.

 

In most cases a contrasting color of material underneath the cake will help to make it “pop”.

 

 

Should the wedding cake be covered with a dark tinted buttercream, then a lighter colored material would be best used to cover the cake table as is the cake table above.  The white skirted cake table is decorated with Fall leaves which compliment the design of the cake.

 

Rose petals, leaves, greenery, flowers, etc. can be used to decorate the cake table so as to help make it be a compliment to the wedding cake.

 

The cake table plays an important role in the presentation of a beautifully decorated wedding cake.  Therefore, one should give some careful thought and consideration in planning how the cake table is to be decorated.
