Here, he has started to shed some and his hair isn’t as

as smooth as it usually was.

My friend, Duke

Duke apparently ate some rat poison that we were not aware of.  He was taken to the Vet and given a Vitamin K shot, antibiotics, etc. but the Vitamin K did not take effect in time to save him.  He was to have a blood transfusion on Saturday morning but at 3 A.M. we knew he would not last that long.  We called the Emergency Clinic in Cedar Rapids and began our trip.  We had driven only about 7 miles when we knew he would not live until we arrived.  He had only a few breaths left and was gone. He died on Saturday morning between 3:30 – 4:00 A.M.

Duke was such a wonderful, loving friend who was always near.  He loved everyone and greeted visitors with as many kisses as they would allow.  He could be in the house and never bother anything.  Even as a puppy, he never chewed on anything inside the house.  He would watch as I drove away to go someplace and was here to welcome me home again.  Often, I was aware that he was such a “good” dog.

Duke will be remembered by me as long as I live as being such a “Special” dog and friend.
