CAKE OF THE MONTH - DECEMBER

Christmas at Home
This cake represents what I think of at Christmastime. This cake is covered with buttercream icing. Tip 21 shell borders with tip 14 stars piped between each shell. The rug was piped with tip 14 using a red and white striped bag and adding green accent and green fringe piped with tip 233. The tree is a sugar cone with tip 16 white needles and tip 14 red stars. The fireplace is molded from white candy coating. Sugar molded angels, Royal wreaths, holly and stockings, plastic candles and a porcelain cherub sitting on the mantle top decorate the fireplace for Christmas. The logs were formed from tootsie rolls and the fire was piped with tip 16 using yellow and red buttercream icing. The packages are Christmas wrapped mints. The porcelain white cat completes the scene. Red and green scrolls decorate the sides of the cake.

Magi Come to Bethlehem
This cake is covered with white buttercream. The background is airbrushed. Shell borders. The magi and the Holy Family are molded from gumpaste, dusted with super pearl dust and steamed. The star over Bethlehem and script are cut from gumpaste and dusted with super pearl dust and steamed. The Holy City is cut from gumpaste and dusted with super gold luster dust. The stars in the sky are piped with tip 14. Plastic palm trees are used to complete the scene.

Christmas Poinsettia
The cake is covered with white buttercream. Top shell border with tip 14 stars piped between each shell. The poinsettia plaque was molded from white candy coating. First the red was painted inside the mold and put in the freezer for 2 or 3 minutes, Then the mold was filled with white candy coating. The plaque is bordered with green pearls. The snowflakes are molded from white candy coating and dusted with super pearl dust. The trees are cut from gumpaste, dusted with super pearl dust and steamed. The bow is molded from gumpaste, dusted with cranberry luster dust and steamed.
