50TH ANNIVERSARY CAKE
This 3-tiered 50th Anniversary cake featured tiers of Kahlua Fudge and Pink Champagne flavors covered with white buttercream icing. Each tier had tip 21 shell borders with tip 14 stars piped between each shell. Tip 16 scroll work decorated the sides of each tier.
The base tier featured an arrangement of white gumpaste lilies dusted with super pearl dust, silk fern and gold metallic ribbon set in a styrofoam base trimmed with gold pearls. The Iowa Hawkeye emblem was airbrushed with a mixture of super gold dust and vodka onto a gumpaste plaque and trimmed with gold pearls.
The couple is very loyal fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes.
A spray of gumpaste white lilies, frangipani and gold metallic ribbon adorned the second tier.
The topper was made using silk lilies and a gold “50” medallion set in a Styrofoam base decorated with gold metallic ribbon.
The pillars were decorated with ivory sparkle tulle and a garland of greenery and miniature white roses around the base.
The cake was designed to serve about 70 guests.
